The Krogan were once a thriving agriculturally and artistically talented race the Krogan's own progress destroyed them. Wars over resources between clans became a global war that escalated to the point where all of Tuchanka to a nuclear wasteland. Salvation seemed to come when the Salarians gave them the technology to fix their planets atmosphere called the Veil but Salarians needed the Krogan as warriors in the Xeno Wars. The Krogan's extremely fast reproduction allowed them to make an army strong enough to clear the Xenomorphs from the infested planets. But what was unexpected was the uncontrollable nature of the Krogan they quickly began to settle on planets without consent of the inhabitants. The Council and The Senate tried to step in to no avail quickly the Krogan rebelled and during the war the Salarians developed a bio-weapon called the Genophage that was spread by the Turians. The Genophage caused only one out of every thousand of Krogan eggs to hatch and survive. Now most Krogan are bitter towards outsiders and wander the galaxy as mercenaries.
